How to choose an RSPS
Choose a familiar or custom game style
RuneScape private servers can take very different approaches to the same game. An OSRS-style project may aim for familiar combat and progression, while a custom RSPS may change equipment, bosses or skills. Read the server description for the features you care about and check its own documentation for details. A label such as economy or PvM is a starting point, not a complete description of the experience.
Look beyond the advertised XP rate
An XP multiplier tells you only part of the progression story. Combat and skilling rates may differ, and drop rates, starter equipment and access to endgame content also affect the time commitment. For a low-rate RSPS, ask whether boosts or events change the normal pace. For faster progression, check what goals remain after reaching high levels and whether the economy has regular resets.
Check Ironman and PvP rules
Ironman RSPS modes usually restrict trading, but the exact rules vary between projects. Check whether solo, hardcore or group modes are supported and how deaths or shared rewards are handled. PvP players should review wilderness rules, equipment access and risk on death. Before committing to a server, read recent announcements and the joining instructions, then ask its community about any important feature the description leaves unclear.
